Where: Chicago, Toronto, and California
Three-day sessions that encompassed
religious lessons, meditation techniques, and cultural activities
geared to children and young adults.
In Chicago and California, participants
stayed in the home of one of the families for three days. Each
day’s schedule included worship, hatha yoga, meditation,
classes, group discussion, games, and individual counseling. The
camp culminated with a group visit to a local temple.
The Toronto summer camp was held at a
Community Center where participants arrived each morning taking
part in the daily activities, returning to their homes in early
evening.
All classes were conducted in English, and
the participants enjoyed learning about their ancient religious
“Truths”, including discovering the meanings behind the
traditions their parents and grandparents practice in Tamil
culture.
