Saivite Tamil Foundation - Rishi' visit to Sri Lanka

I had the privilege of visiting Ganeshanantha Swami in Vavuniya.  Swami was from the Mahadeva Ashram in Kilinochi. Before this recent war in Vanni, his ashram was thriving; it provided a home for many orphans and provided much service to the community there. Now at the age of 85, Swami and the ashram residents have left the place and came to Vavuniya as IDPs. 

Swami is currently staying in Sai Illam in Vavuniya while most of the residents of the Ashrams are still in Vavuniya camps. Even at this age, Swami's earnest desire is to return to his ashram, rebuild it and continue with its important work.

Mrs. A. Kailasapillai and Mr. S. Dhanabala from the All Ceylon Hindu Congress accompanied me on this visit.
