Saivite Tamil Foundation - Rishi' visit to Sri Lanka

Vatharavathai is one of the poorest villages in Jaffna district. Most of the men and woman of this village work as laborers in road construction. Without any local public transportation the students living here must walk three miles just to catch the bus to Puththur Junction. The only School in this village is Vigneswara Maha Vidyalayam.

But this School is one of the highest-ranking schools in Jaffna District in terms of the quality of education. Most of the students from this school achieve very high scores in the national exams. While the students' parents are poor, they perceive the great value of education for their children.

While visiting the region, I was invited by the school to give a talk to the students. So, on October 7th,  I had the pleasure of visiting the School and speaking with the students and teachers. We gave math/compass sets to students in that school who did not have them. On behalf of the Sri Subramuniya Kottam of Kopay, I gave a donation towards the construction of a prayer shrine for 
the school.
